Well it feels like we have been open or a lot longer than five months! We are extremely proud of all Mauli and his team have achieved in the kitchen, quickly gaining a reputation for the quality of their food. Our ever changing list of guest ales and extensive wine and spirit list keep our regulars in the bar happy.
We have so far held two very successful quiz nights. The Staffords marked the sheets for both winning teams, so make sure you sit next to them for the next one! Our next quiz is on 20th April, hosted again by Tony Rubin who is a professional quiz question writer. The cost will be £15 per head for teams of four to six people, including supper. The first prize is a £50 bar tab and the second prize is a £25 bar tab. We only have a couple of tables left.
We had our first music and curry night on 9th March. The Broadside Boys were brilliant as always and everyone really enjoyed Mauli’s curry buffet. Our next music and curry night will be on 26th April and we will have three acts playing, hosted by Mat Bayfield from The Broadside Boys. We have a delicious menu featuring Gressingham duck and Sutton Hoo chicken as well as veggie options. We are taking bookings for the night, on sharing tables. We were more than full last time so please book to avoid disappointment. The cost is £15 per head
On 16th and 17th of April we will be hosting our first beer, cider and gin festival. We will have a fantastic selection to choose from. The restaurant will be closed on these two days and we will be serving spicy street food. We are setting up a marquee on the terrace for the beer. We have music on both days. Saturday afternoon will be Kevin Walford and Kelly Pritchard playing acoustic Americana. Saturday night from 8pm we will have The Alibi Club to dance the night away to. On Sunday at 5pm we will have the full team of The Broadside Boys to play us out.
The ‘Busy Hands and Warm Hearts’ knitting group now meet from 10 – 11.30 in our snug every Thursday morning, hosted by Sarah Butters. All welcome. Help, yarn and needles available for beginners. Bring your projects and ideas along.
We had our first petanque match and the Hasketon Turks Head team were triumphant over BT. However BT enjoyed themselves so much they have asked to play their home matches at The Turks and renamed themselves BT @ The Turks Head. We now have two home teams to support!
The rest of our garden furniture has just arrived and we have also taken delivery of two fantastic charcoal BBQ’s. Roll on the summer!
