Well Christmas Day drinks at the pub were a great success. We were rather surprised by the huge turnout and the entire bar, snug and restaurant were full with visitors. There was a wonderful atmosphere. We all enjoyed the New Year’s Eve party and Mauli’s curry buffet hit the spot. We have already arranged next year’s event with The Alibi Club playing.
We started the new year by closing for a couple of days for a spruce up to keep the pub looking tip top.
We had all the floors professionally cleaned, the decorators came in and all our tables were re varnished.
We also had a new till system and lots of staff training. Our staff party was at The Table in Woodbridge and Vernon and his team looked after us very well.
A judge from the Michelin Guide came in for lunch recently and they have asked for photos for the next guide, which all bodes well. We even have four party bookings for next Christmas already!

Did you know – There are 22 Turks Head pubs in the uk. The name, like The Saracens Head, is a reference to the crusades to vanquish the Holy Lands. Hopefully our sign depicts a friendlier image of the turkish!
This month we hosted our first ’10 Mile Meal’ , where all the ingredients were sourced within 10 miles. We worked with delicious produce from Gressingham Duck, Sutton Hoo Chicken, Virginia Nurseries, AW Mortier, FG Taylor & Sons, Hillfarm Oil, Tidemill flour and Shawsgate Vineyard. It was a beautiful evening, the restaurant was completely full and everyone seemed to have a great time. We will be hosting another one during the Aldeburgh Food And Drink Festival, on the 6th October. (more…)
The Turks Head has had another great month, with Chef Mauli making use of all the delicious local produce coming into season. Monkfish curry and banoffee pie were the runaway successes on our previous menu. We have just rolled out new lunch and supper menus but we insisted that Mauli kept the kedgeree and the banoffi pie.
The garden is looking wonderful with our new Paul Richardson seagull sculptures and our planting nearly finished. Visitors have been enjoying sitting outside in the sun and the children have been taking advantage of the garden Jenga and other games. (more…)
Well it has been an exhausting and fabulous month. The Highlight was our inaugural ‘Beer, Cider and Gin Festival’ . It was incredibly well attended and we got through 20 casks of ale, 5 of cider and 40 bottles of gin. Mauli and his team produced hugely popular spicy wraps, featuring Gressingham duck and Sutton Hoo chicken amongst other delicious ingredients. (more…)
Well it feels like we have been open or a lot longer than five months! Dear all, well we are two months in to the new life of The Turks Head. We have been so pleased with the reaction from our fabulous customers to the pub and our restaurant. Chef Mauli has created amazing frequently changing menus, we’ve developed a great wine list and the bar team have been selecting exciting, ever changing beers from our great local breweries.
December was a very busy month and we hosted lots of Christmas parties for families, friends and businesses, which was enormous fun. Buckshee played us into the New Year. We had a brilliant party and a riotous conga through the bar at midnight! (more…)
Well can you believe we are 2 weeks in? Its been great – more ups than downs which is always a joy!
Lets rewind to the opening, the highlight of which other than pulling the first pint with glee, was the sight of our man of the hour, Clemmie, being somewhat dragged out by his lovely dog Lily whilst his feet did not appear to be moving. I think its fair to say they both enjoyed being our honoured guests. All in all day one was a success lots of happy villagers & locals. Thank you one and all for your support from there on in. (more…)
