The Turks Head has had another great month, with Chef Mauli making use of all the delicious local produce coming into season. Monkfish curry and banoffee pie were the runaway successes on our previous menu. We have just rolled out new lunch and supper menus but we insisted that Mauli kept the kedgeree and the banoffi pie.
The garden is looking wonderful with our new Paul Richardson seagull sculptures and our planting nearly finished. Visitors have been enjoying sitting outside in the sun and the children have been taking advantage of the garden Jenga and other games.
Our next quiz will be on 8th June. We only have space for a couple more teams, so call to book as soon as possible. £15 each for teams of 4 to 6, including supper. First prize is a £50 voucher, second is a £25 voucher.
On 12th June from 4pm we will be holding a BBQ in the garden to celebrate the Queen’s birthday – weather permitting
We have a practice session at 6.30 on Wednesday evenings. It is open to anybody who wants to have a try. It’s very social and the rules are simple. Come and give it a go.
On the 21st May we had our first treasure hunt. It was a great success and the winners of the £20 gift voucher were Hilary and Trevor Hill
On 7th June Saul will be hosting our inaugural ‘SIlver Luncheon’ in the snug at 12pm. It is a social lunch for the over sixties on two long sharing tables. Come on your own or as a group to enjoy good company and Mauli’s lovely food. It will be £15 for one course or £18 for two including a glass of wine or a pint of beer. Please call to book a place. We are hoping it will be a regular event.
On Thursday 16th June we are hosting our first ’10 Mile Supper’, where all the ingredients, except seasoning, are from within 10 miles. We will be using produce from lots of our fabulous local producers notably Gressingham Duck, Sutton Hoo Chicken, AW Mortier Farms, Virginia Nurseries, Hillfarm Oils and Tide Mill Flour. We will be serving Shawsgate Brut bubbles, from Framlingham, on arrival. It will be £26 for starter and main, £30 for three courses, including a glass of bubbles on arrival.
Tables are filling up for Sunday 16th. We promise to make it a special day for all the Dads visiting that day.
