Well we are just starting to get excited about our second Christmas at The Turk’s Head. Our first birthday party was enormous fun and we had a great crowd celebrating with us. This month we have been told that we will be included in next years Good Beer Guide and we are in the final three for the Top 50 Gastro Pubs – Best Newcomer. More cause for celebration!
We have started to have two special mains on the menu on Thursday & Friday evenings and all day Saturday. So far ‘Beef Wellington for two’ , ‘Whole Roast Pheasant’ and ‘Lobster Thermidor’ have been great hits. We will usually announce the specials on facebook earlier in the week and if you pay a deposit they can be pre-ordered, to avoid disappointment.
Festive Season – From the 1st December our decorations will be up and our festive menu will be available for pre-orders. We will be adding several of the dishes to our a la carte menu, for example the three bird roast and our delicious homemade Christmas pud. There are leaflets on the bar with all our menus for the upcoming bank holidays and our opening hours over Christmas.
Christmas Day – We will be open from 12pm – 3pm for drinks only. Come and joins us whilst the turkey’s in the oven.
New Years Eve – We have planned a fabulous NYE party. There is fizz on arrival, a gorgeous curry buffet with many exotic and authentic dishes from Chef Mauli, a gin bar, dancing to the Jack Starr Band and bacon rolls at midnight. The Jack Starr Band are a great young covers band, playing everything from Oasis and Rhianna to The Arctic Monkeys and Queen. Tickets are £45 per head and are available from the bar. The evening starts from 6.30, food starts at 7.30 and carriages are at 1am. We will be closed from 4.30 to 6.30 to set up. The evening is ticket only.
January 3rd & 4th – We will be closed for redecoration, installation of our new till system and our staff party.
Supper and Quiz Night – Break up the post Christmas gloom with our supper and quiz on 18th Jan at 7pm. It is always a great evening and there is usually a waiting list, with seven rounds of questions from Tony Rubin, our genius quiz master. Teams of 4 – 6 people (no more!), £15 per head.
Plans – We are already making lots of plans for next year and discussing another progressive supper with The Table and The Ufford Crown for March and our next beer festival weekend in April.
Did you know – There are 22 Turks Head pubs in the uk. The name, like The Saracens Head, is a reference to the crusades to vanquish the Holy Lands. Hopefully our sign depicts a friendlier image of the turkish!
Please note we will not be serving food on Mondays and Tuesdays in January and February, but will be opening from 4pm to 10pm just for drinks.
