July 2017 – We have had a very busy month. Peter has joined us as assistant front of house manager and is already a real asset to the team. The pub garden is in full bloom and busy with young, old and canine visitors. Mauli did a very successful cookery demo at The Suffolk Show and will be cooking both days at The Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival at Snape from 23rd to 24th September.
Gin Pairing Supper July 13th – We have just a few places left for our second ‘Supper Club’ of the year.
Our gin pairing supper will feature a delicious four course set menu devised by Chef Mauli, a gin fizz cocktail to start and a different gin pairing with each course. You will be guided along the way by our expert ‘The Gin Lord’. The price is £40 per head, arrive at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
Supper and Quiz Night – Our ever popular supper and quiz returns on July 26th. There are seven rounds of questions from Tony Rubin, our genius quiz master. Teams of 4 – 6 people (no more!), £18 per head including a two course supper. First prize is a £50 voucher. Second prize is a £25 voucher. This will be our last quiz before October and we only have a couple of teams places left.
Set Lunch Menu – After many requests we have reintroduced our set lunch menu, running from Monday to Friday. The menu changes every week. There is a choice of three starters, mains and puddings, including one vegetarian option on each coarse. It is £15 for two courses or £19 for three.
Medieval Banquet at Bruisyard Hall – Chef Mauli is the guest chef for a fantastic medieval banquet at Bruisyard Hall on 4th October, as part of The Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival. The feat includes a range of show-stopping dishes made from the best local ingredients, including: Blythburgh Suckling pig, aspic glazed pike, Tide Mill flour trencher bread, Gressingham duck ragu and Muntons malt sticky pudding. Progressive Supper – Our ever popular ‘Progressive Supper’ with our great friends at The Table and The Ufford Crown will return on October 5th. Enjoy a different course at each venue, finishing with a drink up at The Table. Three groups of 24 will be transported between the venues by coach. The cost is £45 per head including a glass of wine, pint or soft drink with each course, a three course set menu and transport between venues. You can finish at your last venue or we will transport you back to your start if preferred.

10 Mile Meal – As part of The Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival we will be hosting another supper where all the ingredients come from within 10 miles of the pub, as the crow flies. What better way to celebrate the fabulous produce on our doorstep. The menu includes a glass of Shawsgate Brut fizz on arrival. Two courses £28, three courses £32
Gin and Street Food Festival – On Sunday 27th August we will see out the summer holidays in style with our huge gin selection and lots of interesting garnishes available in the garden. The kitchen team will create fabulous spicy street food on the bbq. DJ Dave Freeland will be spinning his vinyl from 5pm till 8pm to get the party going. Then you have the bank holiday Monday to rest. Put it in your diary!!
Please note we will not be serving food on Mondays and Tuesdays in January and February, but will be opening from 4pm to 10pm just for drinks.
