Well it has been an exhausting and fabulous month. The Highlight was our inaugural ‘Beer, Cider and Gin Festival’ . It was incredibly well attended and we got through 20 casks of ale, 5 of cider and 40 bottles of gin. Mauli and his team produced hugely popular spicy wraps, featuring Gressingham duck and Sutton Hoo chicken amongst other delicious ingredients.
Our new BBQ’s have had a proper test now with the beer fest and a private BBQ last week. Mauli is very much looking forward to wheeling them out on a Sunday afternoon when the summer rolls in and there is a petition going for a repeat of our beer fest wraps.
The Hasketon team is unbeaten so far this season. Well done Sarah Butters and team. The petanque pistes are also proving very popular with our guests ( and visiting teams testing out the surface!) There are boule behind the bar for anyone to use.
The Turks Head are sponsoring a team in the 10k. Head chef Mauli, trainee chef Jack and waitress Yasmin will be giving it their all on 15th May. Make sure you give them a cheer when you see the Turks Head tshirts.
On the 21st May we are hosting a charity treasure hunt from the pub. Think you know Hasketon? The format is observational questions and picture clues as you follow a route around the fields, paths and roads in and around the village. So drag the family along. The route is just under 5 miles and involves some rough and occasionally wet ground and one stile, so probably not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs. Start times are between 2pm and 4pm. Entry fee is £1 per person, under 10’s are free. Bring a pencil! All money raised will go to St Andrew’s Church nominated charity ‘The Woodbridge Town Pastors’. FIrst prize is a £20 pub voucher. Please call to register an interest. Its very helpful to have an idea of numbers.
On 7th June Saul will be hosting our inaugural ‘SIlver Luncheon’ in the snug at 12pm. It is a social lunch for the over sixties on two long sharing tables. Come on your own or as a group to enjoy good company and Mauli’s lovely food. It will be £15 for one course or £18 for two including a glass of wine or a pint of beer. Please call to book a place. We are hoping it will be a regular event.
We are working on a fabulous menu for a supper on Thursday 16th June, where all the ingredients are from within 10 miles of the pub. Watch this space for further details
